 | | The Tajoura Nuclear Research Center provides an environment and facilities to do researches in all basic and applied science with special emphasis on utilization of nuclear energy for peaceful uses, make use of renewable sources of energy and the desalination of water. |
The Centre was established in 1983 under the name Tajoura Nuclear Research Center (TNRC). The aim of establishing the center was to create a modern and well‑equipped "Center of excellence" for carrying out fundamental and applied research, in the field of peaceful applications of nuclear energy. It was then combined with the Water Desalination Treatment Research Center and the Solar Studies Center under the name of Renewable Energies and Water Desalination Research Center (REWDRC) within aim to unit the effect to conduct studies and research the fields of: 1. Peaceful applications of nuclear technologies. 2. Applied renewable energies technology. 3. Use of desalination and treatment technology . 4. Provide scientific and technical services of specialty. 5. Support the educational sectors . Features: - Basic research tools, consisting of a 10MW research reactor, a critical facility, a neutron generator complex, and a TM-4 "Tokomak" with the necessary process, control and measuring equipment and instrumentation for all installation mentioned above and threafter.

- Water, electricity, gas supply system, means of communication and transportation, radiation monitoring and control, ventilation and air conditioning, waste treatement and disposal, fire fighting, etc.
- Health, safety (radiological, nuclear and industrial, technical, operation and maintenanc, and administration departments.
